Authors must protect patient confidentiality and obtain consent for publication where required.
3. Title, Authors, and Affiliations
The article title must be concise, descriptive, and contain a maximum of 14 words. Titles must be provided in Bahasa Indonesia and English, following the instructions in the Original Research Article Template.
Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, bold type, centered alignment, and single spacing, as specified in the template.
Provide each author's full name and institutional affiliation. Use superscript numbers to link authors to their affiliations. Identify the corresponding author and provide a valid email address.
All listed authors must have made a meaningful contribution to the work, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to its submission to WoMJ.
4. Abstract and Keywords
Each manuscript must include an abstract in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Each abstract must be written as a single paragraph and must not exceed 250 words. Use Times New Roman, 10-point font, and single spacing, following the template.
For Original Research Articles, the abstract should summarize the background, objective, methods, main results, and conclusion.
For Case Studies, the abstract should summarize the clinical context, purpose, case or care approach, principal findings, and conclusion.
Provide 3–5 keywords or phrases in each language. Keywords must be separated by semicolons (;). The first keyword begins with a capital letter, while subsequent keywords begin with lowercase letters, except for proper nouns or terms that conventionally require capitalization. Do not place punctuation after the final keyword.
5. Manuscript Formatting
Authors must use the appropriate official WoMJ template and follow its formatting instructions.
The manuscript must follow these requirements:
-
Paper size: A4.
-
Page margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
-
Layout: One column.
-
Font: Times New Roman.
-
Main text: 11-point font.
-
Main text line spacing: 1.5.
-
Title and abstract: Single spacing.
-
Maximum manuscript length: 13 pages, unless otherwise specified by the journal.
-
Foreign terms that have not been adopted into standard usage should be written in italics.
Authors should retain the section headings and formatting specified in the relevant template. The article must be clearly organized and written in appropriate scientific language.
6. Tables and Figures
Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and cited in the manuscript text. Each table and figure must have a clear title or caption.
A maximum of six tables and figures combined is permitted under the journal's stated formatting requirements.
Tables should be editable and follow the open-table format shown in the template, using horizontal rules only. Table titles should be placed above tables, and figure captions should be placed below figures, following the template.
Figures must be clear and of suitable quality. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where necessary. Images must not disclose patient identity without appropriate authorization and consent.
7. References and Citation Style
WoMJ uses the Vancouver referencing style. References must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they first appear in the manuscript.
Authors must ensure that all in-text citations correspond to entries in the reference list and that all references are accurate and complete. Reference-management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, BibTeX, or EndNote is recommended.
The Original Research Article Template specifies a minimum of 20 references. Journal articles should account for approximately 80% of the reference list, with preference given to relevant publications from the last five years. Older references may be included when scientifically necessary.
For Case Studies, authors should cite relevant and credible scientific literature to support clinical assessment, management, and discussion. All references must follow Vancouver style.
8. Research Ethics and Patient Consent
Research involving human participants, identifiable personal information, or human biological materials must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.
Where applicable, authors must report the name of the approving research ethics committee and the ethics approval number. Informed consent must be obtained and reported when required by the study design, applicable regulations, or ethics committee.
For Case Studies, authors must protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Identifying information must be removed unless its inclusion is appropriately justified and authorized. Written consent for publication must be obtained where required, particularly when clinical details, photographs, or other information could identify a patient.
Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional and national animal-research ethics requirements. Relevant approval or exemption should be reported where applicable.
9. Authorship, Funding, and Use of Artificial Intelligence
9.1. Author Contributions
Original Research Articles must include a Kontribusi Penulis section describing each author's meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, data analysis, interpretation, drafting, and critical revision.
All authors must approve the final manuscript and accept responsibility for their contributions.
9.2. Funding Statement
Authors must disclose funding that supported the research or manuscript preparation. If funding was received, provide the funder's name and grant number, where available.
If the research did not receive specific funding, authors may use the no-funding statement provided in the Original Research Article Template.
9.3. Declaration of Artificial Intelligence Use
Authors must disclose substantive use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools to generate or substantially modify manuscript content. The declaration should identify the tool and explain its purpose.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript. AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Authors who used AI may include the following statement, adapted as appropriate:
“In preparing this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [purpose of use]. The authors reviewed and verified the content generated or assisted by AI and take full responsibility for the final manuscript.”
If no generative AI tool was used, authors may state:
“The authors declare that no generative artificial intelligence tools were used to generate or modify the content of this manuscript.”
Where a specific declaration section is not included in the Case Study Template, authors should follow the journal's submission instructions and provide any declarations requested by the editorial office.
10. Plagiarism and Similarity Screening
All submissions must be original and must not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate reuse of previously published material.
Manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software. The Case Study Template specifies a maximum Turnitin similarity score of 25%. Authors should follow the threshold and screening instructions currently specified by the journal.
A similarity score alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. The editorial team may assess the nature and sources of matching text and request clarification or revision where necessary.
11. Peer Review and Editorial Decisions
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine whether they fit the journal's scope and meet its basic requirements for completeness, formatting, scientific quality, and publication ethics.
Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment may be sent for double-blind peer review by independent reviewers. Reviewers assess the manuscript's relevance, scientific quality, methodology or case documentation, interpretation, clarity, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field.
Based on the reviewers' comments and editorial assessment, a manuscript may be accepted, rejected, or returned for revision. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor.
The standard revision period is 14 days unless the editor specifies otherwise. If a requested revision is not received within six months, the journal may require the manuscript to be submitted as a new submission.
12. Conflict of Interest and Originality
Authors must disclose relevant financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.
Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Authors must disclose any related publication, overlapping dataset, or prior dissemination that could affect the assessment of originality.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all content is original or appropriately cited and that permissions have been obtained for material requiring authorization.
13. Copyright and Open Access
WoMJ provides open access to its published content to support the dissemination and exchange of scientific knowledge.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish their work under the journal's applicable terms. Authors must follow the Creative Commons license stated on the official journal website and in the final publication.
14. Publication Fees
Authors should consult the official Author Fees page on the WoMJ website for the current publication fee, payment instructions, and any applicable exemptions.
Payment of a publication fee does not guarantee acceptance. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's suitability, quality, and compliance with journal policies.
15. Post-Publication Discussion
Readers and researchers are encouraged to provide constructive, evidence-based comments on articles published in WoMJ. Post-publication discussions should be scientifically relevant, respectful, and supported by appropriate evidence.
Comments may address the methodology, interpretation of findings, scientific validity, ethical considerations, or implications of published research for midwifery practice, women's reproductive health, maternal health, neonatal and child health, and related biomedical sciences.
All submissions for post-publication discussion are subject to editorial assessment. The journal reserves the right to decline comments that are irrelevant, unsupported, defamatory, inappropriate, or inconsistent with publication ethics.
Where appropriate, the original authors may be invited to respond to substantive comments. The journal may publish the comment and response to support balanced scientific discussion.
16. Submission Procedure
