Febrile seizures are seizures that occur due to an increase in body temperature in children. Uncontrolled hyperthermia can lower the seizure threshold, increasing the risk of recurrent seizures. Management of hyperthermia can be done pharmacologically or non-pharmacologically, one of which is through aloe vera compresses that have a natural cooling effect. This study aims to describe the use of aloe vera compresses in lowering body temperature in pediatric patients with febrile seizures in the emergency room of RSUP dr. Tadjuddin Chalid. This study used a case study method with a nursing care approach on one patient through the stages of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Aloe vera compresses were applied to the forehead and neck for 15-20 minutes. The evaluation results showed a decrease in body temperature from 38.2°C to 37.7°C, accompanied by an improvement in the patient’s general condition, indicated by the patient appearing calmer and not fussy. This finding shows that aloe vera compresses help reduce hyperthermia. In conclusion, using aloe vera compresses is effective and safe as a non-drug intervention to help lower body temperature in children with febrile seizures in the emergency room, making it a supportive therapy in nursing care.
